Dresden plates --- with a wide center

Does that title make any sense? Eons ago (I'm serious... like in the 80's!) I made a Dresden Plate quilt that had a really wide center hole that you just turned under the edges on & then left open. Of course since that was back in the Stone Age & I've moved about 4956 times since then, I can't find the pattern for it. Does anybody know of a Dresden Plate pattern that has a center like that? Have you ever seen one like it? Have I gone completely off the deep end? LOL!

I don't remember seeing one like that but I have had another strange thought. Why does the center have to be round? Wouldn't it be a lot easier to go straight from one petal to the next? You would get a center shape something like a decagon but I think it might be worth a try. I think it would look great with the Dresden Plates the you put the folded points on the petals ends.

I have seen them. Usually the center is yellow or left open for the background fabric.

Here are some large centered ones that I found:

Yes! Thank you, thank you, thank you! The niceness (& brilliance) on this board never ceases to amaze me!
