Dresden Stars?

Has anyone made this quilt yet that appeared on the cover of the August issue (already out on the stands) of Quilt? I love it but not sure I am capable?

No but I did put it into my idea file. Piecing on paper or foundation blocks is very simple. I am going to use the pattern for a necktie quilt. I will use the necktie in the center wedge and quilting cotton on either side to stabilize the tie fabric.

Is there anywhere that the pattern is posted for free?

Love this idea! I might have to steal it! I think I will use upcycled mens shirts!

Probably not but it looks like you should be able to draw your own paper piecing pattern pretty easily.

This looks so much like the periwinkle quilt from MSQ and then someone here gave another place for a smaller one called Arkansas star.....I think. Anyone else have more info on this variation

No I haven't made it. But, it is a pretty quilt.

That was me! http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...t-t214961.html. I actually bought this magazine for this pattern. It is close to the Periwinkle/Arkansas Snowflake except the Dresden Stars block is square. The periwinkle/Arkansas snowflake takes 4 pieces to make a square.

If you are a subscriber just go to their site and download the pattern. I do believe that if you take your time and measure carefully you could easily complete this pattern. It looks more complicated than it really is. I'm planning on making it as Dresdens and anything resembling Dresden are my absolute favorites. Happy quilting to you.
