Dropping Feed Dog on Touch n Sew

Does anyone know if it is possible to drop the feed dogs on a Singer Touch n Sew machine? If so, how do you do it? The owner's manual does not mention it. I would like to try free motion quilting, and I think it is necessary to drop the feed dog first. Is that right?

Thank you for any info you can give to me!

I have a Singer Creative Touch 1036 and have to use a raised throat plate that covers the feed dogs. not sure about your machine.

Touch and Sews have a lever on the right side of the machine that will raise the plate to do free motion quilting...the feed dogs do not lower.

If I remember correctly, (I had a Golden T&S), there is a lever in front of the dials, on the bed to the right of the harp. When you flipped it to the left it would lower the feed dogs.

You can fmq with your stitch length set to zero. You don't have to drop your feed dogs. Leah Day has many good suggestions for fmq. You may want to visit her website for more information. Good luck!

If my memory serves, my Touch and Sew had a little clear plastic rectangle that fit over the feed dogs and locked into place with little plastic bumps. It's been over 15 yrs. so I could be wrong.
