Dryer sheet "stain"

Has anyone ironed a quilt top with a dryer sheet accidentally under it? It leaves a waxy-greasy stain. I've searched the internet for a solution, but have come up empty-handed.

It's on the white background fabric and pretty noticeable. I've tried Oxy Clean, Shout, Amazing Clean (on scraps), but none of these do anything to the stain.

Any suggestions? I'm definitely going to pay closer attention to what's stuck under my fabric!

Thanks,
GrammaV

Iron the same stain on a white scrap and try different cleaners. I would try hairspray first because it washes out well from fabric.

also, you might contact the manufacturer of the dryer sheet to see what they suggest.

They used to have information on the box in case of grease stains. I'm not sure, but think it might have been to rub with a bar of non-moisturizing soap (like Dial or Zest).

I just checked "Bounce" and they have an 800 number on their box. Your dryer sheet may have one as well.

I used one in the dryer with a poly dress shirt of my husbands once. Ivory soap to the rescue. i got a bar of Ivory and rubbed it in and washed again. gone. No more dryer sheets.

Try blue Dawn dish detergent...l use that to prewash heavily dyed new fabrics and my hubby's greasy work- around - the- house clothes.

Shout wipes. I swear by them. If it gets dry while you are scrubbing, just use some water to moisten it. Makes them go further.

A little dab of acetone will take lots of stains out...don’t lite up a cigarette when you use it,though

I don’t have any idea how to fix it but I thank you for the post as a future warning to watch out for the disappearing dryer sheets!!
