Drying fabric

A couple of months ago I was watching the Kaye Wood show and she demonstrated a great idea. When drying a large amount of continuous fabric fan fold the fabric before washing and pin the fan fold with safety pins. The fabric will not "ball up" when drying. Yesterday while having to use several dry cycles to dry fitted sheets (because they "ball up" and don't dry correctly) I decided to use the Kaye Wood idea on the fitted sheets. Voila.... only one dry cycle was needed.

I would worry about the type of safety pins since most of them are made of metal. I use one of those basting guns which are a piece of plastic like what is used to attach a price tag to a garment. I also use the gun to prevent any socks to go missing from the laundry.

Thanks for sharing the tip! Could have put it to good use yesterday as we were washing and drying the draping for our displays at the end of the show. Each piece is 3-4 yards of fabric.

Most safety pins are made to not rust nowadays. It's a great idea! We RV full time now and I get SO irritated when my sheets ball up in the driers at laundromats.....it's SPENDY to run them a 2nd or 3rd time. And I don't have room to hang them in the rig (and most RV parks ban us hanging clothes outside :( )

I will certainly try that for fitted sheets but don't know about fabric. I made the sad mistake of leaving fabric folded and prewashed it with Synthrapol and it caused a faded crease line.
