dumb dumb dumb. Will this hold?
I am making a flanged binding. When I was putting the two strips together,
I forgot to change the stitch length. It was on 4, which gave me about 7.5 stitches to the inch. I will sitd between the flange strip and the other strip . Do you think it will hold. I usually use about 2.5 |
the setting of 4, was it used to sew the flange onto the quilt? If you sew your binding on top of that, it should be fine. and a STID would hold it too. I see no problem.

I piece on the 3 setting. I use to use the 1.5 or 2 but found with the 3 setting I have flatter seams.
|
I believe it should hold. It's not like the binding is going to have people pulling on just it.

You have to share what a flanged binding is. Is the flange next to the binding or is it a type of binding?
When I put a flange on the edge of a quilt next to the binding, I always baste stitch it on Just shy of the 1/4" seam and then add my binding. What are you doing? I think your stitch will be fine if you are adding the binding after the flange. Please describe more. peace |
Guess I should have said faux flange. You sew 2 strips together, one being wider that the other. When you do a , I think it's called a french fold binding, a small part of the larger strip peeks out like a flange.

Thanks for the link. It's a great tutorial.

Wow thanks, love the look at that and you made it so easy !

Li hawk the flange and binding will hold no problem mine did. Are you going to use the sewing machine or hand through the flanges seamand joining back binding? If using machine I have found it is easier to tack with a very bright cotton that shows up and sew down the flange side and pray the stitches pick up all the way around .
Now adays I'm lazy and I sew an one inch folded piece all the way round edge then bind as normal it looks far neater when I do it. |

I am going to machine stitch to the back and sitd between the flange and the main color. Probably use the main color (red) as my thread. I don't want it to show....if I can help it....lol |
