Sorry about your knee problem. Replacement is what I need to do and it scares the heck out of me. I may hurt walking, but at least I can walk! As to your question, if you have done that much machine sewing, I bet you can judge that 1/4 seam allowance very well, but you csn buy very narrow sewing tape that you can use for a line to follow.
