I have a picture of a quilt I'd like to make but no pattern. It's actually only available in a kit. Any suggestions on how to duplicate?

EQ or graph paper and colored pencils

Post a pic, maybe someone here has the pattern for it.

topper1 - I've tried that and it won't take the image, I think because it's scanned. This is a great site tho.

QuiltingGrannie - It's actually on the cover of the Keepsake Quilter catalog. I will try and scan it again.

Thanks!

OK, we can do this. This is a 7 x 7 grid with 2 blocks. One block is just 49 squares. The other block is an Ohio star surrounded by small squares. I don't know how to post a picture layout, but just break the star block down into a 9-patch with 4-patches at the corners and you should be able to see it. I don't know what size the original is, but I would guess the small squares are 2 or 3 inches.

WOW! You are good!!! I thought it had some sort of Irish Chain with stars added - Thank You, I will try your suggestions. The size is 82" x 82" - now I'll just have to figure out how much fabric to buy.

Beautiful quilt! Good luck.

Can you see the cover of that mag on-line? Maybe you could print it from there.

Ignore this comment. You do have picture. wesing's got the answer for you!

This looks like a Triple Irish chain with the star block instead a plain square.

wesing 06-04-2010 08:55 AM

So if the final measurement is 82 x 82, then the squares are 2" each, the first border is 2", and the second border is 4". That should make it pretty easy to figure your yardage requirements. Good Luck!

The pattern is available as a free download on the Henry Glass website. http://www.henryglassfabrics.com/
(Click on Project Library up at the top, then on the pic of the quilt, then on the download link. I can't link to the actual page, just the main page)

****Moderator Note - here's the whole link.

I too loved that quilt; very easy to duplicate w/o buying a kit.
I blew it up on my printer so I could count the squares and spaces more easily.

P.S. Henry Glass are very nice fabrics :-)
