How do you duplicate a block with graph paper if you don't know if it is a 5 patch or 9 patch or what? The pattern I have in mind is an antique flower basket pieced block with appliqued stems for the pieced flowers.

If it's an old standard EQ might have it and someone could tell you if you have a picture of it.

Marilyn,
You could save yourself some time checking at a couple of the free blocks site first. Like quilterscache or blockparty There is always McCall's or Allpeoplequilt on line too with free basket patterns.

This is what comes to mind from the description of pieced basket, pieced flowers, and applique stems. I happen to have this handy because it's for some fabric I have and currently playing with designs for it.

It's called Basket of Lillies.
