Easiest Spray Basted Quilt

I just spray basted a quilt using 505, 44 x 60, on my ironing board, yes you read that right, and it was the easiest quilt I ever sandwiched! I was looking on youtube.com for spray basting videos and came across this one on using your ironing board and I thought, why not, gave it a look see, and tried it. I'm hooked. She sprays the batting, works from middle down, then middle top. I had to do right side, then left side as my quilt was a little wide. Worked great and I have a new method spray basting.

I don't know how to do a link but if you put in youtube's search 'Spray Basting and Layering your quilt on an ironing board' by Sarah Payne that's it. Sorry about the link. Anyone volunteer to teach me?[h=3]

Anyone know the name of her Red Black & White quilt. Thinking it will make a nice teen boy quilt . I'll use more teen apprioate fabric.

Thank you for sharing, she had some good tips. I will keep this in mind on my next crib size quilt.

Will try that next time. Thank you.

I didn't watch the whole video but one thing I might add is to cover your floor with an old sheet to catch the overspray. It is really hard to get 505 spray out of carpet. Ask me how I know that one.
I have been spray basting quits on my design wall. I cover the wall with an old sheet and put the quilt back on it. i stick a few pins in to hold it up. Then I pin the batting over it. I spray baste it. I start in the middle and spray it and do the top half, then the bottom half. I do about 3 feet at a time and smooth as I go. Then I add the top and do the same thing. It works really well. I plan to fix it up so I can do this down in my basement.

It’s tumbling blocks.

That's essentially my basting method too, except I use Elmer's and a warm iron to hurry it along.

There is a link in the description below the video on how to make the Y seams, which gives the measurements of the blocks. 4 1/2" ruler 60 degree ruler. Blocks are cut from 4 1/2" strips.
