I've been watching Ebay alot lately, hoping to get a good deal on a big lot of thread, and I did this past weekend. I won an auction for 100+ almost full spools of thread. Most of them are 100% cotton and a few are poly blends. For this I payed 15.50 and it should be here by the end of the week. So exciting.

Do you get any quilting/sewing stuff off Ebay? What's the best deal you ever got?

yes i do too. usually specific fabrics i am looking for for a special projects.
a couple years ago, i got lucky and got a twin quilt top for 15.00.

I got a new Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 870 quilt sewing machine. It usually retails anywhere from $1,800. to $2,400. I got mine for $941.00 including s&h. :)

I must confess, I love E-Bay. In ten years, I've only had 3 incidents and after all was said and done, got my stuff okay. Most people are very nice. My best 'sewing' deal was a king-sized top I won for about $40. It's a standard pattern but the lady who did it was fantastic! Every point matched flawlessly! This was a couple years ago and somehow it got put away and I found it this summer and had my SIL quilt it on her long-arm. I still need to make the binding and attach!

eBay can provide lots of things for cheaper than buying it elsewhere.
Just be careful if you use PayPal. They charged my account $700 for a transaction I never made. We've had a heck of a time getting that straightened out! The really odd part of it is that they had flagged the transaction as "suspicious" but still tried to get the money out of my account. If we hadn't stopped payment on it (after I spotted it while checking my account online), they would have took it out anyway. I will never use them again & have closed my PayPal account.

I purchased last month from the sweetest lady 5 log cabin kits they fabric is beautiful and she should have charged much much more1

I have bought on ebay for about 6 years. Haven't had any problems and have bought a lot of things.
I guess I am addicted to ebay and the quilt board. HA HA

I have found great deals on ebay. I purchased my DDL 8700 Juki sewing machine shipping and all for only $865.00 what a deal I checked around town they wanted $2400.00. I am very happy. I always check the sellers feedback.

Heck I bought my car on ebay sight unseen for 6K less than at the local dealership with some warranty left.

I love ebay!! I just recently bought a BOM from ebay that was brand new. Each month was 17.95 when they bought it and I got the entire year for $30.00!!! You can get some awesome deals. They also have daily deals there that I get every now and then.

100 spools of metallic thread for embroidery for approx $75 which included shipping.
These retailed for over $3 each :D:D:D

I have bought a lot of fabrics and quilting notions and patterns from ebay. Prices in Canada are so high that I would have to slow down on my quilting if I couldn't get deals on fabrics etc. Now I have bought a lot of fabric, etc from people on this board so now I have 2 places that I get my stuff from.

I bought my Singer 301 on Ebay for $50, also some bobbins at a huge savings. I love a deal

I've used E-bay for YEARS!! I recently got my Featherweight from there. Only ONE bad experience in all my transactions!

I bought my 8700 on ebay too. The machine head was broken when it arrived so I had to send it back. The seller did not provide any customer service, and I'm so unhappy with them. However, the replacement is supposed to be sent out on Monday. If not, they are going to have all kinds of ugly comin'!

I've used E-Bay a lot. My latest find was a 1952 Singer 15-91 for $63 including shipping. It is in great condition. I've also purchased fabric, feet and other notions for a good price.

I have purchased lots of sewing items from e-Bay. Sewing machines, presser feet,quilting rulers and templates,thread,fabric,you name it. After all these auctions, I had trouble with the seller only once. Sometimes I've gotten very good deals on e-Bay.

I've been buying on ebay for years. If you are thinking about buying a longarm machine and want tops to practice on, there are lots and lots of flimsies.

And many sad stories from estate sales: closets filled with finished tops that relatives didn't want once they found out the cost of batting, backing, and paying someone to quilt the tops. :(

2013 will be my year of finishing UFOs: I don't want to be one of those old ladies who never finish their quilts!

Just make sure to check the feedback. I was so excited to find an Elna SU (circa 1965) with the electronic foot control that I skipped that part. BIG mistake!!!

Why was I buying another machine just like mine for $200? The electronic foot controller disappeared in our move to Kaua`i and the only dude with replacements online was charging that much just for the controller! My DH said we could use the ebay machine for any other needed replacement parts.

Long story, short. He overcharged for shipping and replaced the electronic foot controller with a piece of cr*p. I complained and he blew me off. I complained to ebay but by then multiple complaints about the seller's business practices had got him banned.

Eventually I bought a third Elna SU through ebay without any problems and got a whole box of cams included with the machine and the needed controller.

Of course, six months later I found the controller in one of the few unpacked boxes. In a box marked "Towels". :p

Yes, I get lots of stuff from eBay. Mainly fabric, not sure that I've gotten a great deal, but it's my place to go to when looking for something I can't find anywhere else.

. I LOVE Ebay...never a disappointment..right now I am working with 2 jelly rolls I bought on Ebay..50 strips each for $12 each...nice fabric......I even hooked up with someone selling charms to have things cut for me..Her price was great~!!
