Edge to Edge Quilting by Amelie Scott

Does anyone know anything about this?

Pros and Cons?

Looking for a way to quilt using my embroidery machine.

It looks great, but hard to tell really.

I have it but haven't tried it yet

I have the book and two of the discs. It is a great way to quilt smaller quilts. She recommends that you don't do anything larger than twin size. I did a bed runner and it worked great. She has some very nice designs.

I wish you could buy her designs individually.

I have no idea about the book, but I saw a demo of quilting via embroidery machine by a local Viking dealer and it looked pretty cool. I'm not real keen on decorative stitches for quilting, but many people use decorative stitches when quilting with a regular sewing machine & love the look. I am by no means a quilt expert, but I couldn't tell the difference between the quilting I saw from the embroidery machine & regular decorative stitches.

I don't have an embroidery machine but I would be worried about overquilting a quilt.

The quilting done with the "edge to edge" designs look just like someone had free-motioned it. They are not dense like a machine embroidery design.

Here is a You Tube Video with a demonstration https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?...&hsimp=yhs-004

I bought the original pack and one of the expansion packs. I had a little bit of a learning curve when I first used them, but It was more my fault, than hers. I like them a lot. Sure, there are a couple of designs I may never use, but I think I'll use most of the others. I really like how she puts double-sided basting tape on the back of her inner hoop, so you can hoop the quilt accurately. It really helps.

all I know is my largest hoop is 5 x 7 and that's too small so I can't do it :(

Great idea

I took a class a few months ago about this technique. I have done it on a small wallhanging. It is easy to understand and her directions are easy to follow. I believe she has a You Tube tutorial. I can't think of any "cons".

I bought it recently and am in the process of doing my first quilt with it - I am using the plain stipple, and I love how it looks (large size stippling - not anything that could overquilt). I am having a learning curve (I forgot to flip the design once) but it is so exciting to make my quilt look like somebody who knew what they were doing quilted it. I have to use the small size of her design to fit my 6X10 hoop, but once you get going, it is pretty easy!

Rennie: I'd love to see some pics.

I have been debating on whether I want an embroidery machine. This makes me think about getting one. I will be watching this thread in hopes there are more positive comments.

I have it but haven't used any of them yet.

I have used it to quilt two baby quilts and a lap quilt and love it! I backed the baby quilts with minke which made hooping difficult but I was pleased with how they turned out.

Sval, here are some pics to show how it is done. Also to show size as someone thought it would be too small... bit it is a great size. Remember this is my first try, so it definitely has a few mistakes while I learned the techNiue AND let me also say the basting tape used on the hoop makes a HUGE difference in making it easier to line up.

I have an ellisimo gold 2 and I've heard that the designs don't work well on it without upgrades installed in a certain order. Does anyone have an ellisimo and tried this? Did it work for you? It looks fantastic!

I used this method on a table runner and I think it is genius! So easy to get the designs lined up and my fall table runner that sat there made for two years waiting for me to free motion quilt is now complete and ready for the season. Absolutely LOVE this method and will be doing my own quilts from now on! My free motion is awful as I am no artist, so this just works so well for me.
