Just finished a table runner from the book, Twist and Turn Bargello by Eileen Wright. I love how this pattern turns out. Thinking of quilting it with feathers. Would love to know what others have done.

I pieced this in our motor home while working our way up the coast to Oregon. Planning on going to the Sisters Quilt show. :) Thanks for looking.

I normally just following the curve with bargello because you don't want any distractions from your beautiful fabrics. I change threads when needed so that the quilting doesn't show up. Here is the same pattern but I used bright colors for my friend who now resides in PHX.

I would love to see it quilted. I have a bargello that needs quilting, but I just can't decide how. I love feathers but haven't mastered them. Yours is so great--beautiful colors and perfect for a table. (Editing to say that while I was writing, the rainbow bargello appearedI. I love its colors and the quilting it is gorgeous too! I guess I haven't seen many bargello quilts that disappoint!)

Great colors--looks like the coast.

This one was quilted with feathers. Not sure if you can see the quilting (?). ManiacQuilter, I love your rainbow affect, and the quilting is beautiful!

I too like to follow the curve. Somehow it just makes it stand out better JMHO

Lovely Bargello runner! I tend to use straight or gently curving quilting like Mainiacquilter on runners. I find quilting with curves on the bias of runners or borders tend to cause wavy edges. Does anyone else have this problem?

nabobw 06-09-2015 04:43 AM

love the tablerunners

If you use a color of thread that blends in, the quilting won't detract from the pattern of the quilt. For my avatar I just did an all over stipple in a thread color similar to the fabric and you really can't see it until up close. I also did 2 practice table runners like yours and did regular stitching that followed the curves (also using a thread color that blends).

I always SID in mine, but then I am one of the rare ones who really doesn't like the quilting to show at all. Plus, I just like to SID. I find it very rewarding. On a Bargello, it isn't always possible to "evenly" SID, so I just sir of go at "about 3 inches." :)

ALL of these table runners are beautiful!!

These quilts are beautiful. Maniac - what did you use for the binding? It's unusual looking.

Beautiful table runner. I love the bargello patterns and I even have the fabric and pattern for one but just too "chicken" to start it. I too am planning on going to Sisters, Oregon for the quilt show. It was my Christmas present from my husband--he is a keeper! I can't hardly wait to go-maybe will run into you there. We are headed to Montana to visit some relatives and then on to Sisters. Hope you have a good time at the outside quilt show-I know I will. My husband is hoping to go golfing as he is not too excited about walking around all day looking at quilts!

I really like this idea. I am working on the "Surf Song" pattern by Eileen Wright (lap size quilt).

ManiacQuilter2, it looks like you stitched through the middle of the squares, following the curve. Is that correct? Your quilting really makes the pattern standout nicely.

Fabulous runner, love the cool of the blues for this time of year.

Love that bargello with ocean colors...so calming! No experience with bargello, so no help with that. It's lovely!
Have fun at Sisters!!

lawsonmugs 06-10-2015 07:44 AM

These are all so beautiful. I've always wanted to try one and keep putting it off. Don't know why. I love the look of following the pattern, but I can't see the feather quilting on the third one. Sorry no help here. LOL

tessagin 06-10-2015 08:09 AM

Looks great. Love the colors.

tessagin 06-10-2015 08:10 AM

Love it and makes sense to follow the curve. I will have to remember this one. Love your colors also.

Love all the bargellos on this panel.

They are all beautiful.

What a gorgeous table runner, I love the colors you used, it's beautiful.

madamekelly 06-10-2015 09:39 AM

When you take the right turn to go to Sisters, wave hi as you go through Lebanon, OR. Several of us will be waving back! Lol!

LyndaOH 06-10-2015 10:48 AM

Love these! I'm going to have to put this pattern on my to do list. It looks like a great beginner pattern for someone who's never done a bargello (me!).

cindi 06-10-2015 11:06 AM

Love this pattern, and I'm not a big bargello fan. All these beautiful pics make me want to make one myself!

sewvic 06-10-2015 11:09 AM

It's beautiful, great work. I will be interested to see what others suggest for quilting. The colors you chose are definitely my favorite.

cindi 06-10-2015 11:14 AM

Just checked with my library - they've got the book! Put in my order for it :)

joann11 06-11-2015 09:37 AM

They are all beautiful. Can you use the EQ 7 to make the Bargello pattern. If so can someone please tell me how?

Rhonda Lee 06-11-2015 10:06 AM

This would be a fun size to learn the art of Bargello making! Lovely runners!
