Maybe I just noticed it and it was there before but on her site they are selling finished quilts made by the pattern testers and for pictures The prices are low. Why aren't they dontated to charity?

Ruth, It would seem like a good idea to donate to charity but, like reality for the rest of us, I am sure her art costs her like the rest of us. And, why not let someone be able to purchase such a quilt that would have true meaning to someone and value the who it is, etc. How many of us actually donate what is deemed a 'good' quilt. Do we not donate scrap quilts, etc. I know the home we help once in awhile that helps only women and children that are homeless request that actually NOT to send what is really good. Due to the fact it will prob walk. We actually adopted rooms in this center. Painted the walls, added new windows and made bedspreads to match the curtains per room. Again, we had to keep it simple. We also, made fleece type blankets to go w/them if they wanted. It is a touchy subject to some to try and understand the why someone doesn't do this or that w/what is theirs to do with. I am sure she is a loving person and prob gives in ways we don't know. Notariety does not necess. make someone with full pockets:0)Just MOP-Skeat

My guess is that it's not really up to her. We all know that the tv quilters we watch don't make all the quilts we see. Sometimes or even a good part of the time they are made by the employees in Eleanor's books the quilt photos are labled who made what. Perhaps there is more going on there than meets the eye.

If you assume Eleanor Burns made them it's a great deal, but if she didn't it's not really good at all, most of those eaxct quilts I've seen in her books and they are not that big. Sorry folks, I'm not paying $100 for a table runner.

i do. i may use my less expensive fabrics to make them, but i'll stand behind their overall quality any day. if i don't think a quilt is any good, it goes to an animal shelter. (pooches and kitties don't recognize mismatched points. i hope! :lol: )

only the good ones go to people. the disadvantaged are just as deserving of pretty things as anyone else.

Now that I look really good I see that the biggest is 55 square. Pays to really read things through. What everyone says makes sense :D They do have some nice fat quarters on sale though that work out to a dollar :wink:

I like Quilt in a Day, but find her shippings costs very high. Great fabric and good prices though.

I guess I don't understand why there would be more of an expectation that those quilts should go to charity. Although I don't get the channel her programs are on, I am all for raising funds to keep her show on the air, and especially on a network that (as I understand it) is available to those in rural areas who may not have access to high-speed internet and aren't able to see the shows on Quilters TV or QNN.
