Electric Quilt 5
I have the opportunity to purchase this program at a really good price. I know the newest version is Electric Quilt 8. I've never used quilting software. Would this be a good place to start?
Thanks, Jennifer |
My own personal opinion is no. First, there is no support for 5 anymore. Second, 5 was one of the earliest iterations and based on what other people say about it (I started with 6), it wasn't very intuitive.
I've had every version from 6 through 8 and honestly, 8 is the easiest one to use. |
Thank you Peckish.

I agree with Peggi. I also started with 6 and have upgraded to 8. I'll upgrade to 9 if and when it's available. There is an improvement in each version. If you start with 5 you will probably get discouraged about quilting software in general. I would personally want to start with the latest version. There could also be an issue trying to install EQ5 if it was previously installed on another computer.

Thank you.

There is also the issue of old programs not working on later model computers as they are no longer compatible.

If it was never registered, there may be a small discount for the EQ5 owner who wants to upgrade to EQ 8. You would have to contact EQ to find out the amount, if any.

Unfortunately the only discounts Electric Quilt offers for previous ownership is the move from 7 to 8. You can't skip generations.
