Do you have the Electric Quilt software? And are iou happy that you bought it? I was thinking about getting it and wanted to know if it's worth it.

I bought it a couple of months ago. I just haven't had time to learn how to use it. I tried playing around with it without reading the instructions and got frustrated. I think it takes time to get used to using it and I just don't have that available to me right now.

I want it too! Just can't afford it right now. I'll be watching this thread to see other's opinions.

I've been happy with the program - started with EQ5 and upgraded to both EQ6 and EQ7. Lots of great features.

I love being able to download lots of the brand name fabric lines, and they also have a new fabric library to download each month. Or you can scan or import images of your fabrics.

I have gone through their 'mysteries' - each is a lesson and a story - learn all kinds of tips and tricks.

You can do a lot of experimenting with fabric placement.

Have it and love it. I started with Quilt Design Wizard, upgraded to EQ5 and now I have EQ7.

I love it! Budget $40 to take the class at Quilt University and you will be amazed at what you can do in no time at all.

You will be amazed at what all you can do with it...it is really handy!

I love it! It's almost as much fun to design virtual quilts as it is to make real quilts.

So handy to lay out the quilt and have the program print yardage estimates, rotary cutting instructions, templates, or even paper foundations.

I can scan my own fabrics into the quilt so that the finished quilt looks like what I had envisioned. I can move blocks, rotate them to create different secondary patterns, try different color schemes and border treatments - all without a design wall.

Do watch all of the tutorial videos and read through the book - there is a huge help file in the program, also.

There are two books for EQ6 that are wonderful, too - Applique Drawing and Patchwork Drawing. If you want to draw your own blocks, do the courses in these books - you won't believe what the tools can do! :)

If you like working with graphics programs or publishing programs, you will probably LOVE Electric Quilt. It does have a pretty steep learning curve, but if you watch the video tutorials and read through that instruction book, you will at least remember that there is a way of getting the program to do what you want it to do. Have fun! :)

I have it but have not learned how to use it yet. Been going through the lessons but if I stop for a couple of days I forget and have to start over. Trying to decide if I am really going to use it.

I have used a program called Quilt Pro for quite a number of years. "Everyone" kept telling me how Electric Quilt was so much better. I bought EQ. I have tried to learn that thing, but get very frustrated. I usually have no problems figuring out computer programs. I found myself going back to Quilt Pro more and more. It does have some limitations, but each upgrade fixes more and more.
EQ does have better graphics and a better handle on fabrics, but if you want the program for designing and drafting blocks and quilts, look into Quilt Pro. I think it's less money too.

Have it and love it. Don't know all about it yet but am slowly learning. Have printed foundation piecing blocks and a crab block for a friend. She couldn't believe I printed it for her. I found I really like foundation or paper piecing and it can allow me to print all the pattern blocks I need for a quilt. Can also tell you how much fabric to buy when you enter the size, pick fabrics, backing, etc. I think it is fabulous for a new quilter like me...

I have it ....but do not use it as much as I thought I would. I found I could get addicted to making virtual quilts and never go to the sewing room. .. when I stopped to think about it ... I finally figured out I love the anticipation of really seeing the results as I sew ... is it coming together as I thought it would.... are the colors playing well together.... so much to look forward to when you don't see it completed in the fabrics you are planning.
I lost something about the process , so I use it but ... not as much or to its full potential as I thought I would.

I absolutly love love my EQ7.....

EQ7 - Love this software! Could I live without it? Well, yes, but I could live without my arms and legs too but am really glad I don't have to!

I have had it a couple of weeks, and am amazed at what I can already do. Take the time to go thru the videos on the help menu. It's also nice you can access Help no matter where you are in the program. I had 5 and became very frustrated because I just couldn't get it to work for me. Turns out I had a defective copy, but didn't know enough about the program then to realize it. BTW...I got mine for a lot less than regular retail (under $135) thru Quilt In A Day with no tax or shipping. I received notice of this sale twice, a couple of months apart. They just might have it again.

I have had it for a couple of weeks and still trying to learn.. There are so many different possibilities that it is impossible (for me anyway) to try to learn what's in there for now. Just one step at a time and one project at a time.

If you never want to buy a quilt pattern again it's worth it. You can draft any pattern with EQ7 but it won't give you steps how to make it. Most all the quilt designers use EQ7. I started with EQ when it was on floppy discs and ran only on MSDOS. I don't scan my fabric into it, I find the thumbnail pictures of it at online quilt shops and import the picture of the fabric. Most shops have EQ files of exclusive fabric lines. Connecting Threads has EQ files of all their fabrics. The EQ website has thousands of fabrics in EQ file downloads for free too. Or you can buy a cd of all the fabrics from past years, it's called Stash.
