Thanks for the info i want to try this method! As far as tbe tips i went to the dollar store and got a pkg of pencil pens. the kind that click out thin lead. Unscrew tips, open glue bottle snip off the tip a little more, stick pencil tip inside glue tip. done. I just put a sandwich baggie over top and secure with rubber band!

I use the squiggly line method and I have found that by adding 1 part water to 9 parts glue - it squeezed out better. I had no trouble FMQ on my Husky 830 and everything washed out in warm water. I have tried the home made spray glue using flour, water, salt and rubbing alcohol and it worked like a charm :) Good luck with which ever method you chose.

Just sandwiched a wall quilt last weekend with glue, was real pleased with the outcome, and no puckers during quilting. I do have a couple of big hard dime spots, seems like as I began a new roll I squeezed too much. Love it.

If you hold the glue bottle as high as you can, the glue will be as thin as a hair when it gets to the batting. I write my name or other words in jumbo letters. It's fun! A workout for your arms too!
BTW I tried quilting my lumpy sandwich last night and to my surprise the needle did go right through it. Ever since you recommended that Vermont dry iron, you are on my Top Ten list for 'heed these words'. My pressing is way improved and nothing goes wonky. :) Thanks |
Instead of liquid glue I have been using the Elmer's school glue sticks and they are wonderful ! Less mess and extremely easy to use I use just the lightest coating and then use a dry iron on a poly setting to help it stick a bit more. My machine has yet to gum up at all with this method a d it washes right out like regular school glue.
