Elmer's Washable School Glue is one of the basics in my sewing room. It is so darn cheap too!

elmers glue washes out- very well. I've used the purple glue sticks for ages- never any problem

Good to know :) - It's hard to find the white glue here and I have stayed away from the purple just in case it didn't turn clear or wash out.

I've used it and had no problem with washing it out, even in tepid water.

If mine turned black, I will never find out, because the cap glued itself onto the tube so well that I was obliged to throw it out, no way could I get it off.

Its interesting to read that many have had success with the purple elmers. I find that it doesn't stick. I dab, iron and it just lifts right up...I am a fan of liquid elmers school glue, I make a pool of it on a scrap of fabric, then run the tip of a pin through it and deposit just that little tiny drop, i do this at intervals down the piece then iron. I think I use less glue and if i'm gluing for hand sewing i have less glue to have to try and sew through.

I have used it for many years, way before it became the thing to do and have never had a problem. The first time I used glue stick was at a retreat doing a memorybquilt from my grandsons outgrown clothing. Due to the variety of fabric types I could not get the seams right so out of pure frustration I used my glue stick. The reaction of some of the others was disbelief until after I got a few perfect rows done, then I was nicknamed the glue stick lady and use it in many different ways on my projects. Never had a problem with it washing out no matter how much was used in any one spot. I have used elmers and off brands but elmers sticks the best but again no problems with any of them I say go for it.
