Thanks to whoever shared the tutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W--xgi4nux8
I pinned the top but when I did the back I glued it. It worked well and was so much easier. It's in the dryer now -- finally finished. I think I'm going to have to press it before I share it. |
I am glad that it worked well for you :D:D:D

Nice tutorial

Thanks

I started doing the glue...definately makes it alot easier to put binding on in my opinion and no more fingers being stuck with the pins. :)
Finding out about this technique changed my binding! I used to dread doing the binding but now I kind of look forward to it. My bindings aren't perfect yet but they are certainly on their way.
I just did the glue method for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I will NEVER do another binding without it. So quick and simple, and like Airwick156 said, no more fingers stuck with pins.
It REALLY is the way -- I say! ok, I'm a poet. lol. In any case I also used her clues to get the miter perfect and it worked. This is only my 4th quilt so it is nice to get started in the right way. I took it out of the dryer and my 3D flowers will need to be pressed before I can share the picture.

I HAVE got to try this..it looks really great!
I also have used glue sticks. That also works really well.
Elmer's Glue is on of the best quilter's helpers! I also use it when I want to match prints in long borders or backings. It gives you a seamless look.
i like the glue for the back of the binding to keep the pins out of the way of my fingers.
I'll have to take a look at that video. The one time I tried glue it took me at least twice as long as my method with pins. And I usually don't have a problem with getting stuck so I'm back to pinning my bindings.
One of the things I like about using the glue is that I can get everything looking good before I sit down to sew. No more puckers, no more pin sticks, no more fighting to keep the mitered corners from moving as I sew. Love the glue!

I've also started using glue on my bindings thanks to the videos that have been linked here. I no longer dread having to put bindings on quilts!
I tried this one a quilt and it worked wonderful. The only thing is it looked so good I didn't sew the bottom of the quilt. I put it in the washer and when it came out the bottom was clearly not sewn. It didn't take but a few min. to fix it and it looked so perfect. I use glue all the time now instead of pins. Changed my dislike of binding.

I finally started using Elmer's Glue recently myself, and you're right -- it does make things a lot easier!
The problem I have with Elmers method is you cant see the stitch line you need to follow if you machine sew your binding.
With pins you can see under the binding as you go along and make sure you are sewing on top of the stitchs. |
The board needs to put in a delete message for double entries.
I have high speed internet but for some reason it did not post fast and I posted twice. |
