Elmers Spray Adhesive
I bought a can of this while shopping today thinking great Elmers comes in a spray--will make glueing my layers together so much faster and easier. I should really read before I purchase as I am now looking at it and it says 'drys permanent'! I don't think that's what I want! I am so glad I didn't just go for it and spray my layers as I am certain I would have another problem on my hands! Anyone used this stuff before?

have't used it but thanks for the caution

We all make mistakes like this. You were among the lucky who realized the mistake before it was - pardon the pun - permanent!
|
Elmer's permanent spray has a very strong odor. My DD used some to make make a poster. It's very sticky and the over spray was a mess.
|
I wonder if you could dilute the washable glue and spray somehow??
|
Do you still have your receipt. Take it back.

you could cover boxes with fabric using this spray glue but no no no using it to baste.

thanks for sharing.......................

Almost made this mistake with Elmers glue sticks -- I ordered washable glue sticks from Amazon and they sent permanent. I almost used them for fabric, but realized what I had before I did. The seller would not let me return them, so I gave them to DD for school projects.

We always have to be on guard don't we!
One of the reasons that I like using washable glue in the bottle is that it isn't a spray and I don't have to worry about the mess of overspray getting on things or fumes. I think of glue basting as an alternative to pin basting or thread basting. When you pin or thread baste you don't cover the entire surface but rather pins or lines of stitching strategically placed. The same with glue basting. I don't cover the whole surface but squiggle it on in a zig zag fashion in a thin stream. It's quick, easy and not messy. I put it on the batting so it doesn't soak through to the surface beneath and then just smooth my backing or top over it. I find the washable glue I get at Dollar General (their brand) which is 2 bottles for $1 works great and so economical. |
