Embroidery help, please!!!
What an afternoon!I was trying to embroider some Christmas towels. Everything was going well until the thread got wrapped around the spool holder & jammed everything. After I fixed that it seemed like one thing after another went wrong. I fixed the bent needle, I fixed the jammed thread in the bobbin, I scrapped the towel & that design & started freash on a hand towel only to find the bobbin thread is showing on the design and NOT the top thread. Maybe I am just brain dead but I can't remember what I need to do to adjust that. I have a Bernina QE 440 with the module. What the heck did I do now?

Do you mean you replaced the bent needle? And did you try re-threading the machine? I was taught the rule: if you have problems with the bobbin thread its an upper thread problem and vis versa............
|
Can you see the top thread at all? If you can, you just need to adjust the tension. You might want to just turn off the machine and turn it back on, like you have do with computer when is gets of kilter.
|
thanks! Yes, I replaced the needle. The top thread barely shows at all. I did turn her off...and walk away....far away! I'll try again tomorrow. I adjusted the top tenion some but didn't want to go to far with it.

Sometimes that the only thing to do is walk away. Hope it works out for you tomorrow.

My guess is there is a tiny piece of thread stuck somewhere, probably in the bobbin area. Open up the entire thing and check very, very carefully. Make sure you take the entire bobbin area out.

Are you using a stabelizer on the top of the towel.

Have you tried using same color bobbin thread and top thread so the tension won't show as much?
|
usually means the top thread is not threaded correctly or the tension need to be adjusted I would take out the bobbin and the upper thread and re thread the machine and insert the bobbin.
|
Be sure to use wash-a-way stabilizer on top and you might want to try it on one of the discarded towels before you go any further.

Sorry about your day, hope tomorrow will be a great day!

Thank you all! I do use the wash away :) I went back yesterday & gave her another good cleaning. Took the module off & made sure she was sewing correctly. I tried a few other things and I think what went wrong is I tried using sewing thread instead of embroidery thread. I was told I could use either at my Sewing Center but my Nina wasn't liking it. After getting everything in order she was going fine...for awhile then the computer icon showed red. Big sigh!!! Couldn't figure that one out for awhile. It said the cables were loose but we even changed them out & couldn't get it going. I finally checked under the hoop & sure enough it was jammed. I had used too light of a stabilizer. Abort another mission! clean, rethread, double the stabilizer & she was working again. Good golly! I feel like I just had a lesson in trouble shooting! Seriously, thanks for answering! I need the back up!

Way to hang in there. I saw some one make all embroidery as a patch then sew it on with invisible thread. Made for less waste and more accurate placing. Maybe try that some time now that you have the machine under control.

Linda, that sounds like a good idea for me, right now!!!

I understand. Im sitting infront of the repair store now with my brother machine. They open in 30 minutes. Sigh.... Hope it comes back soon.
