Hi Everyone,

I have a Janome 300e and am having a horrible time with the stitches. The bobbin thread shows through no matter what I do, and when I decrease the top tension the top thread creates loops and the bobbin thread still shows. I changed the needle and re-threaded several times. I've had the machine for several months and have only used it a few times, but the problem gets worse each time I use it.

I'm using regular quilting cotton and 2 layers of tearaway stabilizer on the back (1 layer and the loops are out of control)

Any tips? I have several Christmas projects lined up :(

Recheck your bobbin case. I had a similar problem last week, a tiny piece of lint stuck in there. Messed up my to where the bobbin thread showed up on the top and you couldn't even see the top thread.

Can you take apart the side of the head where the automatic thread lever is? I did and up on top where you start to thread the machine and cleaned that out really good.

Also it might be that your BOBBIN tension needs to be tightened. :)

I agree ... check your bobbin tension..check your book and see what the troubleshooting option says about it.

Thanks for the replies! Unfortunately the manual doesn't even mention bobbin tension. I've been adjusting it, tightening and loosening, and now ONLY the bobbin thread shows on top no matter which way I turn it. Ugh! Wonder how much a dealer would charge me to show me how I completely messed up the tension? :)

*edit: I've been adjusting the bobbin tension, that does appear to be the problem.

"Righty-Tighty, Lefty-Loosy" is something my husband told me once, and it's true for most everything. It sounds like your tension is too loose on the bobbin. I recommend tightening it. Turn the screw to the right.

This video shows you what the bobbin should be doing with the thread. It explains tension. :)

The repair place nearest us wanted to charge me 125 dollars to fix mine. I would have been so pissed if that dang piece of lint cost 125.00.....lol
