Hello.
I have a ? for everyone. I was planning on embroidering rambling rose buds on a vine down the length of a king size quilt. Two times. HOwever,
I have had a friend to suggest that I paint them on and heat set them for a more permanant set.

She suggested this b/c the rose buds are tiny and would be hard to work with appliquing.(?)

Any suggestions?
What would YOU do?
Thanks for the help everyone.

You could always do ribbon embroidery for the rose buds. That would look beautiful and give some dimension.

As far as applique, are you thinking of doing needleturn or fused? That would also make a difference.

Embroider them you will like it better than the paint technique and it will be more quilt matching than the paint. I have used paint but only when it is a wall hanging or when there are more paint items within the quilt. All that aside, the choice is still yours. Would love to see the quilt before and after. I am sure it will be beautiful.

I would use paint. You can use acrylic paint and add a fabric medium to it. I have painted on quilts, pillows, tablerunners and am working on a wall hanging. I love to combine painting and quilting. If your up to it, try something new and step outside your comfort zone. Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be beautiful.

I would do a little sample of both, then decide which way you prefer :D
Both ways would look beautiful in a quilt :D:D:D
