I am curious what brand of embroidery thread you use that is 100% cotton? I haven't seen any for sale since most embroidery thread usually has a desired sheen that only comes with a synthetic , rayon or poly, or silk thread.

If it is water soluble, you may need to soak it. I you iron while it is still there it will crinkle up. Once it is rinsed out it will be fine.
