embroidery question

Hello! I am new to this website. I have done quilting in the past and am not interested in embroidering. I just purchased a VERY inexpensive Babylock BL60E machine with the hope that I could create monograms with it. It has 3 programmed fonts already, but they will only (from what I can tell) embroider straight across, not in traditional monogram format. (aBc) Does anyone have experience with this that could help? There is a memory card slot but I do not have a memory card. It also has "frame" options that I thought maybe could make a circle monogram but I do not really know how to work it. Any help is greatly appreciated! I am VERY new to this hobby. -Sarahbeth

Choose your letters one at a time and resize them individually. For instance the initials are B A T with T being the last name. You would make your letters BTA. You can choose the size to make the letters in the lettering menu on the machine. You may have to stitch each out as an individual design for placement purposes if you don't have software to combine them or your machine won't edit them ( mine doesn't) newer machines might be different than my old war horse.

Welcome to the board. Did you purchase your machine from a Babylock dealer? If so, they should offer classes on how to use the machine and embroidery unit. If not, check with a dealer, you may still be able to take classes, but might have to pay for them.

I bought a Bernette Deco 340 this summer and learning the 'how' to operate it; each machine has a language all its own. There is also a thread for questions on this site that helps people with embroidery machines. I was reluctant to start, but I am slowly moving forward, doing blocks for my BIL.

The dealer was my best friend and teacher. Ask the dealer, go in with your machine and sit down and take lessons from her...have her contact others that might help in the area as well. Find out when they met to have a fun session with their machines.
