Here's a link to a Yahoo group you might want to join. It's for owners of the Brother Innovis or Babylock Ellegante which I believe are basically the same machine. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BDB_Embroidery/

It's a great resource for information and help.

Hey after playing with my new Brother PE-770 embroidery machine, and having a ball combine my embroidery with quilting.. Making another purse .. then going to do a quilt with flower blocks.

Really? That is what I am considering buying right now. Do you like it so far? Did you buy it on AllBrands? People tell me not to go with that one because the hoop size is only 4x4. :)

I have the Babylock Ellisimo and love, love, love it! You are going to have so much fun!

I think you can buy bigger hoops.I have an older brother embroidery machine.

joeyoz 11-07-2010 08:21 AM

I have the Babylock Elegante2. I love it.

I like the way it cuts the thread.I don't know if it's like mine

Whenever someone mentions that they are wanting to get an embroidery machine and which one should they get, I always tell them to get the most that they can afford. Reason being, as soon as you get the "bug" and start embroidering, you're going to want a bigger hoop. (yes, I did it when I first started, so lesson learned) I now have 2 large machines (the Ellegante and the Brother 4000D, upgraded to the 4500D.)

You can do larger designs on the smaller machines, but you need to have the hoops that you can "split" the design to sew it. I've done it, but it's not fun to me. I had an angel who looked as she was in a bad car accident after I had stitched her out.. Not pretty!

I have a Baby Lock Ellegante II also, for 3 yrs now. I hope you bought the Gold Standard extra Warrenty.
The machines can be touchy, but I've replaced several cutting blades, metalic threads especially dull the blades.
Taking to classes also can mean a quick adjustment, so I love the Gold warrenty program which ends this Feb, ouch.
I have got more addicted to buying designs than fabric, have thousands now ;)
If you'd like some great links for buying very low price but really nice designs, I'd love to share. Also for embroidery blanks (items to make)from slippers to mousepads to diaper covers, has everything.

I've bought a tear away gigantic roll of stabilizer off Ebay, and also varigated threads & asst. threads. I've not had any trouble with the threads at all, much cheeper off Ebay than the local store.

I'd love to PM also if you have any questions, anyone.
I hoped to upgrade to the Elisimo, but my trade in is only $1,800 on the Ellegante II, and not even 3 yrs old yet...was disappointed in that.

I've had over 2 million stitches on my counter the first year, the store said that was considered very high production. Haven't checked the counter lately, and that only counts embroidery not quilting.

This is exciting, I didn't realize, thought this was a place only for quilters, I'm happy to see a thread starting for embroidery machines now too, thanks.

Here is a link that opens to 100 embroidery design companies, most have free designs posted either daily, weekly, monthly, some have hourly game finds, and enough designs you'll never go through them all.
http://www.embroiderytop.com/index.html
My favorite is:
http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/default.aspx
I LOVE this site because of the ideas, tutorials, video's to watch on site free... didn't realize you could embroider on sweaters, balsa wood, leather, fur, mouse pads, it opens a lot of ideas for gifts. And the customer sharing, if they post the project, you can buy the designs they used usually 50% off that day. They have birthday club save either 50% on a pkg, or $10 off your order, don't need to buy more than the $10 either. Christmas club adds up what you've ordered, and at the end, you get free $ to spend on designs you want, I'm at $95 earned free now, and season isn't done yet.
They also do .99cents, & $1-$1.25 and free, and discount codes for $5-$10-$25 off your order. I love the way their items stitch out too.
Then the next favorite is OeSD designs which I LOVE their beautiful FSL (free standing lace) Christmas items, not just ornaments, candle wraps, 3D church, box, angel, sleigh, wreaths, these are so very beautiful.
I love learning about something very special, and I haven't even gone through half the companies on that 100 list yet.

I just wish they would bring back embroider cards not CD's

Her designs are expensive, but they are stunning.

Outstanding! I got 18 pieces to try, and I had to buy that 3D Swan, LOVE 3D FSL designs.
Have you looked at OeSD embroidery? http://www.embroideryonline.com/products/Christmas2010/
They have several 3D FSL, several for Christmas, a pkg & a church that are beautiful.
I also like John Deer, he has beautiful Lace items also.
http://www.adorableideas.com/advance...?keywords=toys
Then I love Embroidery Library http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/Default.aspx
I love their detailed tutorials, wonderful project ideas, that their designs come usually in 3 sizes, they have a nice wish list place & order history saves what you bought with a search to find what you bought again.
There are so many wonderful sites, I'd get nothing done if I just broused them all.
This link has 100 embroidery companies.
