I make string/scrap quilts to donate to our local vet clinic. Our daughter works there. Over the past couple of years, I made at least 2 dozen quilts or more 30" x 36" and my string tub is still full. They just don't go down.

I gave most of my strings, small pieces, etc. away when we moved.
I miss the potential of them. |
very nice Kalama! But who or what is Ms. Duckworth? They look very interesting and I always love a scrappy.

I have a box of crumbs near my machine, and when I want to "have a sew" but not make a project, I dip in and make crumb blocks, each is like a little picture, I trim to 6 1/2" .Recently, my 13 y.o. granddaughter wanted to learn to use the machine, and made 4 lovely crumb blocks, used the rotary cutter without blood being spilled, and just LOVED spraying everything with Mary Ellen's, then using my mini iron.I hope she will continue to sew, I may even leave her some stash (when the time comes!)

They are very simple to make and the color variations are beautiful. They get their name from Joann Merrill Duckworth's quilts. Pinterest has a lot, too. |
