I have some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket & was wondering if EQ7 ever goes on sale or can be bought new for less than $190.

I had membership to AQS http://www.americanquilter.com/publications/ and they offer 20% discount off $190 cost of EQ7 for members.

Membership is $25 and sometimes you can get a discount off that at retailmenot.com.
