I got my income tax back a few days ago. Had enough to pay the house taxes with a little left over. Decided to take the leap and ordered EQ6. I have Quilting Wizard and love it, but would like to have more options. I always freak out about spending this kind of money. Please, does anyone else have this program ( I know some of you do TEE HEE) and reassure me I did the right thing. Thanks.

Yep, I'd say you did the right thing. (but I've been called an enabler of sewing things before) *LOL*
I've only had it maybe about 2 weeks and I love it! You'll have a blast making new blocks and knowing how much fabric to buy. It'll also show you templates for cutting or rotary cutting.. |
 Go for it I LOVE mine, just got e6, Have e5 since 04
|
I love mine too.
Even when I can't sew, I love to design quilts on there. I have tons, and of course will never make them all. That part of it, is like a really addicting computer game to me. |
If you have the time to play around on the compter designing you will love this......I don't use mine as much as I thought I would only because I don't have the time....to busy sewing or checking out this Quilting board....but it is a very nice program and I don't think you'll be dissappointed......hope this helped reasure you some........:-)

I've been using EQ ever since their first edition and EQ6 is WONDERFUL and much easier to use than their other versions. If you ever have a question, go to the EQ forum and they will help you out or tell you where in the book to look. http://doyoueq.com/phpBB3/index.php

Looks like we had an idea to post about the same thing at the same time!! I am glad to hear you took the plunge!! I am planning on buying mine this week too! We will have to compare notes later
|
Don't worry, you will LOVE it!!
|
I've used EQ since it was on floppy discs! I remember when the creator said he would never use Windows format for the program only DOS. :!: You really learned how to use a computer back then.
It cost about the same then as it does now. Once you buy it you only have to buy the upgrades for the next version which aren't much at all. I stopped feeling freaked about spending money on items I want when I found myself writing a check for my child's birthday party and felt okay about it because she is my little princess and she deserved it. Hmmm, something is wrong with this picture.......... |
When I first got EQ I was determined to learn to use everything it had to offer. Well, that didn't happen. At first I used it all the time. Now I use it when I want to audition colors or just play or figure out yardage, and it's worth it for that alone! You will not be sorry you took the plunge!

Happy dance, happy dance. Know you can't see this, but I am dancing. My EQ6 came in the mail today. I will be spending tonight learning how to use it. I am so excited. Can you tell???
|
You'll have so much fun with it. I too did the happy dance when I got mine... I got mine as a valentine's day gift from dear sweet boyfriend, and I've been playing around with it since. So far, I'm in LOVE with it!!! I was really skeptical about spending so much money on software, but now, it was worth every penny! The next step will be to get an all in one printer, scanner, copy so I can import my own fabrics....
|
I know you must be excited to use it, I would too. I have EQ4 and it's a little hard to navigate, IMO, between the Fabric Library, Block Library, MY Libraries, importing into my libraries, etc.
Let me know how it works out for you. |
I have EQ5 and love it. I know you will be very happy you got it! :D
|
I have been looking at EQ6. I am wondering does it let you convert any block into paper piecing?

Yes, you select print and pick foundation, template, or rotary cut and what size you want the block to be. You can select what sections you want to paper piece together and then sew together to make the block. Lots of options. Always click preview before printing to see exactly what you are getting.

I have been doing the lessons. My kids keep laughing at the squeals of happiness coming from my computer area. I am loving this and can see already there are tons of ways I can use this.
|
I was wondering how you were doing with it. Glad you are having fun!

I have had a wonderful time working with my EQ6. Was able to import the fabric for DD Coffee Lovers quilt and do a little free form planning with it. This may not be the final plan for this quilt but I had fun doing it. Let me know what you think. The picture isn't the greatest. The fabric on the outside has coffee beans on it and the fabric in the center had coffee cups.
|
Its looking good to me! I'm impressed that you imported fabric and then got the image to a jpeg and could post it! I still struggle with that
|
Thanks for the impute. Do you think the fabrics are too dark. Should I do something to lighten it up. Let me know.

The camera icon is the key to saving images as jpeg. So quick and easy!
|
I really like it as it, however, since you asked....I would replace the narrow brown border with the yellow in the center to give it a little more..umph.....just MHO :D
|
Go to the forum Crispy posted for you its great, I just upgraded to EQ6 from EQ5, I do find the more you try to use it the better it becomes. On that forum you may ask any questions about the EQ6 and they always seem to answer in a day or so.
