EQ7 boxed vs download

Does anyone have an opinion on the boxed EQ6 vs the download EQ7? I admit to being a little old fashioned when it comes to software. For some reason I feel the need to actually touch it to feel it to believe it is real and mine. Any advantages or disadvantages to Internet download vs usb import to computer

Like you I need to have the real thing close by
#1 reason it's nice to actually have something to show for the $s spent, and #2 the program and serial no's are there in case one has computer crashes, and these things dissappear. It has happened to me, and it's a real pain to have to contact companies to download again, especially if one need passwords.

You get the book and I don't think you get that when you download the program. Stay away from EQ6. I have been told by others on this board it has a lot of problems. I jumped from EQ5 to EQ7. If I am quilting, I have used EQ7 to resize or some changes with the project I am working on.

I have done the upgrades from EQ5 to 6 to 7 and I have the boxes. I agree that it is good to have the info on hand. My only issue was when I tried to use simulation software on my Mac. I ended up buying a laptop to dedicate to EQ and having the upgrade box vs the download made it easier when I moved it.

If I remember there is a cd with EQ7. All the info you need to download the program is on the cd except the serial number which has always been on the box no matter what version you buy.

Are there issues with it on the Mac?

I bought online and downloaded. The only difference I can think of, is how fast do you want it? Now vs future delivery date.

I'm a Mac user and my laptop doesn't even have a disk drive anymore. They are somewhat antiquated.

I don't think they are antiquated, just cost more to have on a laptop. DH's work had to custom order Mac laptops to include a disc drive. The over the counter ones do not have them?

I didn't know that there were problems with EQ6. I have it. Since I didn't have 5 and haven't yet gotten 7 (am waiting on 8, probably, to upgrade)....I am not having issues with 6.

My reason for telling you not to get 6 is that it is older software. The next release may not support the things you are doing. Why would you buy an old program when 7 is already 1-2 years old as well? So, get 7 - and I'm not recommending that because I have issues with 6. I don't.

I had EQ6 for a few years and never had a problem with it. Now have EQ7 for Mac and it runs exactly like EQ for Windows. Get the box. It's got a book that's invaluable.
