EQ7 Question
Has anyone ever tried a digital usb pen for the tracing feature in EQ7? I've been struggling with tracing using the keyboard mouse on my laptop, so tried a usb mouse...not much better, and my husband suggested a digital pen, hmmmmm.

I have a pen (bamboo) but have not been very successful at controlling it. Good luck!

I've never used the tracing feature, never even thought about using it. But I know how difficult it is to draw something using a mouse. I think the trick is to use the editing tools after tracing or drawing to smooth out the image, but I've never spent the time to get good at that either. If you find that the digital pen works well, let us know!

I played with the editing tool yesterday, but there are so many points to pull from that it can be quite cumbersome. I've been using it to simulate the fmq for my latest quilt (tired of ripping out stitches, lol). I did manage to be successful, but thinking the pen might make it easier, more natural to control?

Have you tried tracing on paper while its connected to the computer? Does it translate to the trace feature in the EQ7 program?

All the time. It just takes practice. Where is your mouse when you are trying to use the tablet? I've got a USB mouse and if I don't move it away from the tablet, the pen doesn't move right. It's happened in both XP and Ubuntu. It seems like the program is seeing both devices and getting confused.
Don't feel bad if it's hard. I had to buy a gadget called a Y mouse with my first computer. The rest of the family couldn't figure out the click, double click or right click! This was well before USB! |
