I couldn't figure out EQ5 on my own, and was planning on taking a class. When EQ7 came out I upgraded, and could easily follow the suggested lessons that came with it. So, I wouldn't say EQ7 is hard to learn. I really like the block libraries that come with it. And there is lots of flexibility

I have the old EQ5 and love it. How is the new EQ7 different from EQ5? I guess what I'm wondering is if there is enough difference to justify buying the new version. Thanks for your help!

My sister has EQ7. I have EQ5. I use my 5 constantly. Sue hardly touches her 7. I am happy with what I can do on the 5. I cannot find the book, so I learned by just playing. Absolutely LOVE it.

...well I have eq5 and really don't use it that much so I have no desire to upgrade. I do not "design" my quilts..I buy books, mags, patterns of designs I like and go from there..color ways/fab pattern..more fun going to LQS and visit w/people and check out what's new...or dive into stash and create from there. If I need to resize the size of quilt or additional fab, I will do by hand..by the time I would get into program, draw out and print out, I could be half way to LQS and not waste colored ink of printer...JMHO

I had no trouble with EQ5. The worst problem was where and how it saved stuff. Drawing was easy. I do use it, especially for layout.
