Ever heard of Singer Spartan Sewing machine

A friend gave this machine to me. However, she didn't have the manual and so far I haven't been able to locate one. I was able to download a free PDF manual to the Kenmore I bought at Goodwill. Just can't seem to find anything in regards to this Spartan (Singer).

Lucky - the Spartan is a nice machine! It's also known as the model 192; Singer has a manual for it here. The Spartan is basically a model 99 without the light or accessories, so pretty much anything you find about the 99 is applicable to your machine as well.

Enjoy it!

Jennifer,

I have 2 Spartans in my collection and I really like them. They are called Spartan because they are the basic/no frills Singer, but they have twice the power of the popular 221 featherweight. If memory is still working the 221 motor is rated at .4 amps and the Spartan at around .7 amp-I will double check when I get home. Also the Spartans have plastic case, bottom only, no top and I have one green and one black case on mine. They are truly Spartan in all respects.

Try posting on the vintage thread. There are lots of folks there that have Spartans. You will love the machine.

I googled spartan singer sewing machine to see what it looked like and there is a small instruction booklet for it here: http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/245_192.pdf

Hope this helps!
