My DH used to play golf constantly and was always purchasing golf towels in various sizes from the places he played. On a cleaning binge, we found about 50 of these in all sizes and various weights of terry cloth.
I was thinking about making a quilt out of them, using a serger and feature the embroidered logos. I didn't plan on backing it because they are so thick. Most of them are velour cut on one side and loopy terry on the other. Has anyone else ever done this? |
No, but it would make a great beach blanket!

Sounds like a great idea. IMHO, I would at least put a backing so cover up the seams. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Good luck.

I have seen one! you can serge it and no need for abacking.
You could also cut out the logo's and use them for a more traditional quilt. |
Sounds like a great idea.
My husband collects golf balls, he has a logo ball from EVERY course he has ever played at! |
My hubby golfs and that is a splendid idea.

What a great idea. I have never made one but I bet he would love it.

i think it would make a FABULOUS quilt! with the serged edges and with the terry/velor it will wash up so soft and fluffy! it could wind up being one of your favorite spring/fall quilts...not heavy but warm enough...and oh so cuddly! :)
