Experimenting With a Correction Pen
 

I sew on vintage machines and one of them does not have a sewing guide attachment. I was really needing a guide the other day and I didn't want to put on tape, or any kind of adhesive, on the machine. So, I looked through my office drawer and came up with a, "white out" correction pen. I used it along with my ruler to draw a line on my black machine. Don't worry I did NOT draw over the decals, just the silver, cover plate and black area. The white line shows up great and has solved my problem. My quilt top is just about done and the line is starting to wear off now. I think that all that I need now is a damp cloth to take of the rest, leaving the machine clean and pristine.

I also tried the correction pen on my rulers. I used to mark the 4 1/2" corner and what a difference it made! It made squaring up go so much faster! Now I'm on a quest...what else can I use the correction pen for?

Clever! Funny - I would be more scared about putting whiteout on one of my "black beauties" than sticking down tape but I'm glad it worked out! I wonder if a Command strip would work...

I have a few of the metal guides that screw into the bed of the machine; haven't tried to see if they fit my 99's or not though. I do better with a physical edge to butt the fabric against; a line is too easy for me to ignore, LOL.

Interesting. I would have been a bit scared to put it on a black machine as well. I'm glad that it helped and that it should come off easily.

Good to know about the machine. If you have nic in your dryer tub, correction fluid will cover it up and stay there for almost a year before having to re do. If left not covered it will start rusting.

I use painter's tape and hardly any residue.
