I had a quilt that was a few inches too short on the sides (customer didn't take into account the puffiness of new mattress when she measured) and added a 6" ruffle on 3 sides. I made the ruffle and then sewed right to the binding. The width issues all fixed and the customer loved it....said she liked it better with a ruffle....LOL

birthed quilts are usually tied. you could add a row of blocks and put that area under the pillows (which you made matching shams for). good luck. have fun. diagonal quilts look good on the bed too though.

I do have shams:D

Add a border to the bottom and top of the quilt.

Looking for ideas. I have a finished (quilted) square quilt that is perfect for the guest bed. The side to side length is fine. I would like to extend the length of this quilt by about 6 inches so it covers the mattress and has enough at the foot of the bed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:confused:

You could make flying geese border with left over fabric scraps and by adding 3" to top and bottom you will have a balanced 6".
