Extra hand (Gizmo) for separating chain pieced segments..
 

I have one, and it is wonderful .... just finished putting together over 70 log cabin blocks! Chained for awhile, then used Gizmo, chained, Gizmo... etc, etc.

I actually have one of those and I love it. It is easier for me to use than the cutter on my machine especially handy when I am sewing with others in a group as I can turn around and talk while doing it (don't have to be facing my machine), But then I am a gadget lover

Easy to make one from a seam ripper tucked into the hole of a spool. Can glue the spool to a base if needed.

I know I said I LOVE my bloc-loc rulers, but I also LOVE my cutting gizmo. It's big & purple so you can't loose it on your sewing table, and for me, it really helps a lot. The thread cutter on my machine is in an awkward place and I tried using a seam ripper stuck in a spool, but I stabbed myself, which you can't do with the gizmo. You can also replace the blade. And it's very stable, so it doesn't rock or move when you use it. I love to chain piece!

how coincidental that you posted this today... i discovered the same on my machine today... so much easier than using the scissors

Gadgets are fun but I have a tendency to lose them!!

One of the advantages of chain stitching is that the next piece of fabric being fed doesnt get hung up in the feed dogs. Best not to cut the pieces apart as you go along. I just snip the long line apart with scissors, but I can see where the Gizmo would be helpful. For me its just another toy that eventually ends up in a drawer. However the Gizmo is better than cutting after each piece with your auto cutter. I took Sally Collins class on Precision piecing and discovered the advantage of chain piecing.

I think that will be a wonderful Christmas gift to ask DH for! I chain sew a lot and this will be a nifty little thing to have close by.

I have several of these! Two came from different secret pals and one won as a door prize. I keep one on my ironing table. It sure is handy to have.
