Hi...whilst calling dealers re: buying a new machine, one suggested I try the fab u motion attachment for my Husqvarna Designer 1....had never thought of this.
Has anyone used one and have a view on it ??
Please reply...thanks

Have one for my Hus Viking SE...Took it out of the box once, try it and put it back...don't know if it's worth the investment..Limited area of work space and then have to restiuate your fabric to cont.. I got it on sale for 99.00...that's the only reason I bought it...I guess I should try it again but thinking it's just another gadget I had to buy because of the price.
Somewhat like the felting machine I bought from them also on sale...tried once...said why...and there it sits.

I do have a fabumotion and I am not really sure that I like it. It was expensive even at half price! It works fine but what I have found is that you have a limited work area and if your design is bigger than that area you have to reajust your fabric which can be a pain. much easier to ajust without the frame. It really did not make free motion really any easier for me. Sorry to say the bottom line is practice.

I have one also and my opinion is the same as the others who have commented. I never use it.

There have been other threads on this and some like the fab u motion. I suggest you give it a good trial and see what you think so you can decide if it's worth it. Wish I'd gotten the deal hobbykat did. Mine was LOTS more expensive.

I have the one Pfaff made and did not like it at all. Just too much of a limited area for me. That said, many do love theirs and I would suggest you go to your QS and take some fabric sandwiches and practice with theirs to make a decision.

I have the Inspira fab u motion and I love it! You don't adjust the fabric, you adjust the table under the fabric and it is no problem with me. First you take off the little storage thing off your machine to make it a free arm and then youslide the fab u motion under the machine and then you move the table around to make sure the foot will not hit the metal. I don't know how in the world I had done free motion quilting all these years with out it. I bought mine form a friend on another board. Love it! You will develope a lighter touch as you use it more and more. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay

There are several youtube videos showing the fab u motion being used and how to use it.

I have one, and I love it!!! Takes all of the strain out of FMQ...I used to get back and neck pain...I don't with this...it DOES take getting used to, though! The foot pedal is just an on/off switch...the speed of the stitching is controlled by how fast you move your hands(the fab-u motion bed, really)...but with a little practice you can get it down pretty fast...because you are not sitting with your foot on the pedal for speed, it changes your posture just enough so that it is much easier on you back, neck and shoulders, (at least for me).
I like it much, much better than FMQ-ing without it...as another poster suggested...go to a dealer and try one out...good luck!!!

Mine doesn't have the stitch regulator and I do fine with out it. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay
