fabric bleed HELP
I have a partially quilted quilt that was in a closet and it bled a red onto a lighter colored fabric cream the fabrics look vintage this bled in several places. does anyone have any ideas on how to get this out before its finished or after its finished. the quilt has been partially had quilted and the person wants to have it finished on a machine. there is quite a bit of fabric bleed on the light colors and it is making my head hurt on trying to figure out how to fix this and even if it is fixable. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Finish the quilt first and then wash it with Synthropol.

Once a fabric has bleed, you can try synthrapol in the wash after the quilt is done. It suspends the dye in the water so it doesn't bleed more onto the quilt. I have never tried it on fabric that has already bled. Colour catchers used in the wash can collect bleeding also. Wish I had a perfect recipe but maybe someone else will.

Just be sure to use *lots* of hot water with the Synthrapol. You need enough water for the bleeding dye particles to disperse in, so the dye becomes very very diluted. Do not try to do this in a home front-loader; however, a large laundromat front-loader is fine.
