Fabric Boxes? What sizes? Filling?

I'm planning on making some fabric boxes for Christmas. What size squares have you used to make your boxes? What types of things have you filled them with?

Thanks!

Never made one before. It will be interesting to watch the posts on the thread.

I made some last year. Got some large jar candles to put in them. Sorry, don't recall what size squares I started with but I do remember having to make some adjustments along the way to get them the correct size. You could fill with candy; potpouri (sp); nuts; cookies... Any edible items I would probably put into bags and then put the bag into the fabric box.

I have only made one but I used 10" square. I filled it with some candy as a Christmas gift for Grandson's GF.

I am making one now using a 20" square. I'll post when it's done no matter how it turns out. I am machine quilting it now using leftover wool batting.

I made several last year as Christmas gifts with homemade edibles in bags inside for co-workers and a couple with those nice 3 wick candles for relatives. I don't remember what size, but I sure would like to figure out how to make them bigger! Will be watching for future posts.

I haven't made any yet, but wouldn't it take a larger square of fabric to make them larger?

Candles.....I hadn't thought about putting those into one of the boxes!

I have made 3 sets of nesting boxes. I have the book, Fast, fun & easy Fabric Boxes by Linda Johansen, that I picked up at the thrift store. Really good directions and pictures. Have made the octagon and two sets of the square for my SIL's christmas presents this year as I had some material left over from the quilts I made them a couple of years ago.

Still don't know why pictures are posting twice. Sorry.

The last set of boxes; I have the same fabric pattern of the box with the red lid. Gorgeous! All of them!
