Some of you may remember the post I put up a few weeks back about bad service and lack of communication.........As you may remember I got an IM from the manager of the customer service dept.I called several times and had to leave messages....never got a call back...same with emails to him. So I will just chalk this up to experience and cross them off the list of companies to order from. I hope those of you who said you had only good experiences with the company don't fall between the cracks like I seem to have!! I heard from several of you who also had bad experiences and gave you the mans name, phone number and email address. Did any of you ever get a response from him?

I always have the greatest service from them, they even call me if there is an issue with anything.

Tink's Mom 03-31-2010 08:38 AM

Ditter, I would write a note to the owner of the company...I have never had any issues with them, but, a little note to the top of the totum pole will solve lots of problems....

beachlady 03-31-2010 09:18 AM

Never have ordered from them, but had planned to with all the new fabric lines that a board member posts from time to time. Hmmmmm....should I or shouldn't I?

DebraK 03-31-2010 09:39 AM

There are so many good places to shop. Thier loss. May you never go through that again.

Agreed. There are so many GOOD shops out there to shop with that it just makes good sense to leave the bad ones in the dust and take your pocketbook elsewhere.

I have an order on the UPS truck now...I ordered on Monday. I'll let ya know when it gets here.

farscapegal 03-31-2010 10:04 AM

I just received two orders this week from them and everything was as I ordered it with each piece of fabric at least 3 to 10ins more than I ordered. I have always had good service with them.

I am sorry you have have a bad time with them. I would do as Tinks' mom suggest.

I will continue to order from them.

Ditter I don't understand why you are being mistreated. My order yesterday was 1 yd short so I called this morning and got the nicest woman and I've already got an email saying it's on its way. I commented on your first thread about my other problem with them, I mentioned this to her and she said that they had had a lot of complaints lately and were checking into the warehaouse and shipping depts. If you're waiting to hear from Stephan Friedman, you may never, he's probably just a title holder. is this the number you called? 1-888-455-2940. I got an answer real quick. I just hate to see you miss out on all the deals they have.

Beachbound 03-31-2010 10:29 AM

My order is here, eveything is just fine except the color of my "tone on tone" pink is really mave with purple. bummer not going to work with my quilt but I'll find a use for it. Wouldn't ya know THAT was the one color I ordered 5 yards of.

Beachbound 03-31-2010 10:30 AM

oh, and I got a $5 off coupon for my next order, that's pretty cool.

I agree.

I returned a bunch of fabric and they got it on the 17th. I hadn't heard anything from them as far as my credit so I called yesterday. Lady said it was in "accounting" and to wait a few more days. I sure hope so. This was fabric from the order it took 8 days for them to get out. Have to say the return process was very good. I called customer service and was emailed the return shipping label and off it went. Course we'll see how quickly it comes off my MC. Sorry you had such a bad experience Ditter.

I order from them all the time, I always ALWAYS get exactly what I ordered. I must have placed 5 orders with them this year alone. Each time the fabric is gorgeous, well wrapped and arrives fast! I love that store. I plan on ordering a huge order soon of home decor fabric to make panels for my Living room :)

They have my business!

Sorry to hear about the bad experiences. My experience with them has been excellent. Good quality fabrics, good prices, fast service, and who can order less than $35.00 in fabric, so the shipping was free, and a coupon for $5.00 off my next order.
If I had the kind of experience you did, I wouldn't order from them again, either.

Rebecca VLQ 03-31-2010 03:36 PM

Awwww, geez! :( Sorry it didn't work out for you! I've got an order on the way; we'll see what happens with it.

pam1966 03-31-2010 04:57 PM

I've only ordered from them once but my experience was very good. I'm sorry yours wasn't!

tattoonana13 03-31-2010 05:06 PM

I decided to place an order from them even though I have read all the comments on this website. My order came earlier this week, and I was horrified! There was so many problems,I wouldn't know where to start. So,I caled the company, and the lady on the phone wanted me to talk toe cust service manager. He was apparently busy, and did finally get back to me about 2 hours later. I told him all the things that were wrong, and what could be done? He said he wanted to make me happy,so,I could get my pieces recut,or get a credit towards another purchase. I told him I would let him know,as I wasn't sure if I wanted to deal with them again. I finally sent him an email, and told him he could give me a $credit with no shipping and I would try again. I received an email from him,2 days later, saying they would give me $credit, the amount was $10 higher than I had suggested. So,I decided to order some more fabric. I had received a 15% off coupon with the first order,so I used it on this next order. So,now, I've gotton a credit for half the amount of my first oreder, plus 15% off and no shipping! So, I basically got almost $50 worth of fabric free! So,I guess from my perspective,I'll give them another chance. I did give him quite an earfull about the problems with the first order, and told him that I belonged to an online quilt group, and how a lot of people from that group had dealt with their company and had also experienced a lot of problems with their orders. So, maybe all this will help and they will try to fix whatever is wrong. I will say that this new order I just placed today, was cut and sent out within 3 hours of me placing it! Guess they didn't want to piss me off'anymore! So,we'll see what happens. I do like their prices and selections,so I hope this order is ok. :? Hope this helps all of you with questions about Fabric.Com. The man I dealt with was named Hal if that helps.
Best Regards.
Gail

sewcrazygirl 03-31-2010 06:53 PM

gosh, i guess i been lucky. I got some gorgeous fabrics.

Gilla 03-31-2010 06:57 PM

It hadn't occurred to me to complain, but the only order I placed with them was a mess. I ordered some collegiate fleece. It arrived without wrapping or folding, just dumped into a box. I also ordered some placemat fabrics. They were all crumbled up with the fleece and I had a terrible time to iron them. No wrapping or folding. The third piece was backordered. All were supposed to be a Christmas present. I never received the third part after six weeks. When I called and asked where it was, I was told: "Don't worry about it, we didn't charge your card." Whoopee! I lost out on that item for Christmas. They did not have the courtesy to send me an email, call me or whatever. But at that time I made up my mind never to order from them again. Now I just dump their weekly ads and email promotions. They had one chance and lost it.

tattoonana13 03-31-2010 08:53 PM

I know what you mean...my stuff was "thrown" in the box, hardly folded, and alot looked like it was cut with a chainsaw! These are some of the things I told ths service manager. I'm sure this order will be ok because I'm sure they don't want to piss me off again! After hearing again, from all of you,I may never order from them again...there are so many other places out there that I know are good. Sorry you had so much trouble,I do understand. I guess we're all better off from our experierences, having learned the hard way.
Respectfully,
Gail

littlehud 04-02-2010 07:21 PM

They do seem to be getting mixed reviews.

roseOfsharon 04-02-2010 07:48 PM

It does sound confusing, one gives good reviews and others bad! I suppose one has to make the choice to try them and see. I do believe that all mail ordering (e-mail or otherwise) can have problems, the thing is getting them resolved in a professional manner.

wvdek 04-02-2010 07:55 PM

Wow-six of one half dozen the other way. Darned if you do darned if you don't. Order not order! Geesh, too many variables for me and inconsistancies.

deemail 04-02-2010 08:10 PM

Only wanted to say I have worked with fabric.com for more than 5 years and they are the first place I look when I have shopping to do...the color is not true on computer screens and occasionally, it has not been exactly what I thought I was getting. It has never been so off that I didn't just fold it into my stash and wait for the right opportunity for it. That said, everything has always been great quality and certainly good bargains...I always check their 'Clearance' and sale areas first, there are so many things to choose from that I rarely have to pay full price. It sounds as though you had a bad experience as we all have from time to time. If it was your first experience with this company, I can understand why you might consider taking your business elsewhere. But, if I had a bad experience tomorrow, I would certainly call or write to try to fix the problem, they are well worth the effort in the long run.

tattoonana13 04-02-2010 09:20 PM

Well,I rcvd my last order today, and,it seemed alot better,BUT,there was still a problem. You would think with all I've been thru and talking to the service manager,we would have straighted this out, anyway,I only ordered 15 different styles of cotton fabric, most of it Kaffee Fassett, and they still had the order wrong. Sent one piece, which was at least 1 1/2 yds. of some blue fleece! Not even close to what I ordered! Mind you,I had also ordered this same fabric and style in two other colors...hmm...wouldn't you think you notice the difference in the fabric? So,I've ordered from them twice, and had problems now, twice. Doesn't sound good for them! Don't think I'll go back even though the service manager did email me back and say they were trying to fix all their problems. I think I'll wait a few years and then see how they're doing!
So if you've had good luck with them for 5 years, you must be the exception...I think I'll stick with Thousands of Bolts and Only One Nut....besides,they're only 1 1/2 hours away from where I live! And I've NEVER had any trouble at all with them!
Food for thought.....

Rebecca VLQ 04-03-2010 06:42 AM

Just got my order the other day, and everything looked great and was in order. Just as it's always been. I *did* actually get the tape measure out to make sure it was right....and it was. I hate that I even felt like I had to do it. :(
