I am in the process of making a quilt called Interwoven Wonder. It is the same design that Sadiemae has used for her Avatar but I have done it in Blue and Gold/Yellow all from my stash. I liked my colours so much I decided to make it to keep, so made the piecing twice as wide, had enough fabric to also add one extra pattern repeat to the length. Once it was pieced, the decision for border fabric was easy, getting the fabric was the problem. Uusing one of the Gold/Yellow fabrics for the first border made it really pop, but didn't have enough to do the border, went to the shop that I thought I had purchased it from, no luck, tried quite a few other places, no luck, went to the web site of Andover Fabrics, they had contact details for the Australian Distributors, e-mailed them, no luck, they had not imported that fabric into Australia so ofcourse I didn't have the possibility that someone may still have some in stock. I then went to the designers web site and there it was, ordered it quick smart. It arrived about a week later, it was the right design but the wrong colour. I went back to the web site and checked it out again, no description given but my fabric was a closer match to the colour on screen than the fabric they had sent me. I sent an email asking if they had the design in other colours but have failed to get a response from them. (Oh well more fabric to add to the stash.) Disappointed but not beaten, I had a gut feeling that I would find it. Was revisiting my quilting magazines and came across an ad for a Fabric Shop in New Zealand that stocked thousands of different quilting fabrics, so thought I would give them a try, no luck, they only had the red colour way. Then the luck changed, I was reading my latest edition of quiltedparadise and there was a lady talking about www.Quiltshops.com , a web site that you can search for a particular fabric and it will list stores that have it in stock. There were two stores, one gave a lengthy description, so knew it was the right fabric, the other store was cheaper, so contacted them to confirm colour and ordered it. The fabric arrived today (Friday 8th October), was a little afraid to open it at first, but curiosity got the better of me and I tore it open, checked the colour, it was a perfect match.
Sorry about the lengthy story, but had to share my joy and knew that you would all understand. I promise to post pictures once the quilt is finish. A big thank you to the lady who posted the link to Quiltshops.com I have had to use them again, this time there was one store and it only had 1 3/8 yards left in stock, it has arrived and was also a perfect match.
I love this board, I have learnt so much, thank you all.
