I know the people of Japan have much more important things to think about and do , but has anyone heard if the problems in Japan will affect the production of fabric? Just a thought, last night was ironing and noticed my fabric said made in Japan.

I haven't heard anything about that. If the name of the company was on the salvage, google it and see where it's located or if there is any information. All I've heard about is automobiles and paints being affected.

we have two copiers at our school that were broken when we left on Friday for spring break. we were told that they were waiting for parts for them from Japan.

My gosh, and we seem to think everything electronic is made in China now. It is going to be a while before we realize the full impact of this.

As a precaution, the company I work for (a major Pharma) is stopping purchases from any vendors within 30 KM from the damaged plants.

Seems like everything will be affected, cars, car parts, cameras, etc., and now fabric. I would not purchase food, beauty products, pharmaceuticals, or fabric from Japan. We need to be cautious. It's all very sad and unfortunate, and another major quake/aftershock is predicted to occur in the near future.

Have to agree and any seafood coming from the area from Japan to Alaska to Hawaii and California. How do you know though. It is sad. I feel so sorry for those poor people.

If a product made it out of Japan and into the US and passed both country's screening systems, now modified and increased because of the circumstances, and is sitting on retail shelves, odds are it's going to be safe...no matter what that product is. Let's be reasonable. |
Thanks ghost rider! I have family there. On the other side of island. They still need to support family. No radiation there.

here's what i'm going to do.
i will peek into the shop window at night. if anything is glowing in the dark, i won't buy it the next day. seriously, though ... ghostrider is right. the Japanese people and government are not going to destroy the international reputation for honor they've spent longer than my lifetime building just to make a quick buck on anything. |
