Has anybody tried the fabric mover for the Pfaff machines? I am considering buying one and I was just wondering what people using it are thinking.

Hi, Barbara. It seems so many manufacturers are coming out with this capability. Was it Bernina that was the innovator? The best advice would be to take a quilt sandwich sample from home to try out on each machine you demo before you buy. It never fails that things work beautifully in the store with their stuff but when you go home to use it on your stuff, the gremlins go to work.

Yes, Barbara--Going to the shop and test-driving each brand of machine is really the best way to go. I found the automatic walking foot on my Janome works very well (I've had the 6600MC since December) But beware those quilting gremlins! Machines are a big investment and a long-term one, so get as much info as you can.

Thanks for the replys. I already have the Pfaff 2046 Quilting machine. The fabric mover is an attachment for machine quilting. You move the attachment, not the fabric and the stitch regulator keeps your stitches even no matter what speed you run the machine. I know they make the same thing for the H-Viking machine also.

I have this too, how are your quilts that you quilt?

i did a test run with the fabric mover and wasn't happy at all.

it works fine with the sample in the LQS because the size is small and everything moved with ease.

i the next day i went to the LQS with my own sample a 60 x 60 quilt and the mover didn't work as smoothly as before.

it was very heavy to move because it couldn't handle the weight of a large wall hanging.

i ended up buying a grace pinnacle quilting frame instead.

Thanks, I find that I have difficulty with anything larger than a lap quilt.
