I also have mine divided by style. batik non batik and FQ's are the same way. only have probably 30 yards total and that is pushing it.

I pick up empty fabric boards at JoAnns every time I go. they are free. use the for larger lengths.

What are your fabrics in in your closet? I got on your blog and can't find the description. I want to organize my sewing and scrapbook room. Some of the units look like they might fit 12 x 12 scrapbook papers.
Many thanks

I keep mine in plastic drawers and color co-ordinated boxes to keep the dust and light off as I live on a busy highway.

Hi...l I ike mine all neat in cupboards with doors that open wide...fabric folded by the ruler method with a pin in them to hold them, that way they don't all get messed up while I am looking...projects sorted in plastic bags in the baskets....bit of OCD going on I'm sure but it does make it so much easier to find things

I use the Sterilite containers with covers and sort by color. They're stacked in one of my 4 upstairs corner closets, which are in the guest bedroom. There's no room in my sewing room at the head of the stairs. It's somewhat of a pain to take long flat bins down to reach one with the colors I need, but for now it's the most workable solution for me. In the closet I also have a clothing rod and hang some of my odd fabric; and store other types as woolens in bankers boxes. In fact, I found a baby quilt I'd worked on 30 years ago. It's all appliqued, and just needs the borders, batting, backing and tying or quilting. Now if I could just get time to get up to my room and sew, organize, or just enjoy my stash!

Your system looks fantastic! It's neat, organized, protected with the glass, and enclosed in a lovely piece of furniture. I am envious!

I use draws. I live in a part of southern California where the wind has no problem blowing strong. Therefore, we can get dirt more than dust in the house. I stopped using the containers because I got tired of lifting and putting them back.
