Fabric Panels
I am wanting to find a fabric panel of a single guitar. Does anyone know of any quilt shops that have them?
I have a nephew that has been in a wheelchair since birth and he is now 29 years old and severely handicapped. I want to make him a little lap quilt that he can use in his wheelchair. And his most favorite thing in the world other then his mom and dad are guitars and music. I don't have a clue on where to search for them. Thanks in advanced. |
Try some of the fabric search engines. You'll get more options if you search using 'guitar' than if you search using 'guitar panel'.
http://www.quiltshops.com/index.html http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/ http://www.fabshophop.com/fabsearch.asp The only panel I found was this one and each separate block is only 4¼" square, but there are lots of non-panel fabrics with guitars on them that you might be able to use. http://www.fabricshack.com/cgi-bin/S...id=1#rjr2232-1 |
Thank you Ghostrider. I hadn't thought about just putting in guitar. I think it was because I wanted a panel but now that you mention it...I might do fabric instead of a panel. Thanks again

This isn't a panel, but if you're interested, here is a tutorial for an applique guitar quilt that's nice. You could make your own panel ;-)

I bought a fabric with guitars on it at Walmart. On the selvage is "CP37055 Acoustic Guitars Dan Morris for Springs Creative Products group". Here is the fabric for sale on eBay:

This is how I would search for the fabric. I just always Google!!

Robbi Joy Eklow is well known for her guitar quilt patterns. She uses raw edged fused appliqué. Thses two are still being sold.

If you can't find a guitar fabric you like, you might consider one of these patterns from Another by Anita:
Song of the South (treble clef): http://anotherbyanita.com/shop/patte...-of-the-south/ Unsung Melody (floating staff): http://anotherbyanita.com/shop/patterns/unsung-melody/ Totally Composed (musical symbols): http://anotherbyanita.com/shop/new-d...ally-composed/ These are all raw edge applique patterns. My husband is a guitarist, and I made the Song of the South for him. I took the picture before I did the quilting. It is a wall hanging, but could easily be used for the center panel of a lap quilt. how about using guitar fabric and appliqueing a guitar on. It's a big fairly easy shape to do.
