So! We all have a good stash. but DO WE HAVE ENOUGH??? And do you plan to buy even more before the "drought" sets in?

Pricers may or may not go up, BUT my stash will go down and that is not a totally bad thing

I only buy what I can afford. I only buy when fabrics are on sale anyway. I don't care what year it was made as long as I like it and it fits with my project. I rarely pay high prices for things because I just can't. I wanted dog fabric I saw in Joann's but didn't buy it simply because I wasn't going to pay 9 a yard for fabric I could see through. Actually I wouldn't pay anything for it. But it wasn't Joann's fault this was a print they had carried before and I had bought before and the quality had gone down. The manufacturer had used a cheaper greige goods.I pretty much have to shop Joann's but I also go to Hobby Lobby which I have found has nicer fabrics for the same price. Just not as big a selection., My income is not going up anytime soon so I guess I will just cut back . Sucks because I was going to start a small thing making doggy diapers since the ladies in the HS wanted me too. OH well. Just means I will have to go up on the price a little and so will all the others.

Holice, you are right on the money....my lqs purchases fabric for $1.50-2.5- per yard (quality Mfgs.) and sells for $4.99.
I was doing a BOM at another shop and happened to be in my lqs and to my surprise there was the fabric in my Block of the Month project. I had paid $9.00 at the BOM shop and it was $4.99 at my lqs...so sometimes, the wholesalers do get current runs. The cost of cotton has continued to rise since last year and it still trending up due to high demand and low supply. The cost of shipping has gone up due to Oil prices. The USA needs to do more in the way of domestic drilling rather than depending on foreign oil. This would bring down the cost of EVERYTHING. Diana |
I really don't want to boycott. But do you really think we will keep buying as much or as often if it goes up. So we actually are boycotting. They still will go out of business if we can't afford to buy, or if we can get better deals online. I try to shop as much as I can at LQS, even though I can get it online cheaper. But now I will be willing to wait a week until the fabric comes from the online shopping, instead of feeling like I want it now. I will go look to all the shows and shops, find what I like and order it online. So the shops will still suffer, so the shops need to fight this with us, in some way.

With the cost of everything going up...why in the world would we NOT expect fabric to go up also? Notions..... up.... Thread...up....Tools....up...... My income......down... :cry: :evil:

I placed an order with Connecting Threads last night on their clearance fabrics . . . goy crazy, ordered 20 yards, but free shipping, no tax, and only $65.00!

Hubby says it is due to petroleum oil. It is used in the dyes for the material. Now we know who to blame. We need caps on alot of products like this one. Talking to our Gov. and Senator's would let them know how we feel and what are they going to do about it??
