Fabric Score
My son and I drove to Arkansas and Oklahoma for vacation at Christmas time. My cousin in Oklahoma owns a quilt shop and fabric shop. She had just received from her supplier a grouping of small floral prints, with the same print, in all the colors of the rainbow (and more) in 6 yard flat folded fabric. I had only seen one piece of it and was admiring it. The next thing I know, my cousin was splitting all of the flat folded fabric and giving me half of it! WOW! The fabric is gorgeous and it's the perfect size print for a log cabin. The other night, she called me and said there were two more colors and she was sending me those colors, too! I really appreciate my cousin! She's terrific! I tried to get her to let me pay her for it, but she wouldn't have it at all! I should have shot some photos before I started this post! I'll get to it tomorrow. It's much too late to do that tonight!

Well Jeanette, you are one lucky woman! You have a very nice cousin! I'm sure she also appreciates you! My guess is that you never ask her for anything, or attempt to take advantage of her. This is her way of showing her appreciation. How nice!

What a sweetie! You'll have to make up a couple of mug rugs out of the scraps for a Thank You gift.

What a nice cousin...send her my way...lol...

Could you make a small quilt for her so that she can hang it in her shop as an advertisement for the fabric lines? (assuming she can get more of the lines if the demand picks up). And we definitely need pictures!!

You are blessed with a very generous cousin, and yes, one you don't try to take advantage of, I'm sure!
The idea of mug rugs from the scraps or a small wall hanging is a very sweet one and a great way to say thanks. I join the ranks of those who say photos please!! We are very visual, we quilters. huggggggggs and smilessssss and congrats on your wonderful fabric score. Can't wait to see what you do with it when all is said and done! |
Neat to have your cousin so generous. Looking forward to seeing your creations!
|
Oh my! I am so very happy for you!
|
My cousin owns and runs a very small shop in Cleo Springs! Unless you're an Okie, you may not be at all familiar with Cleo. It's approx. 100 miles North of Oklahoma City.

Oh, I am always making things for Kay! For Christmas, I made her a tote back, which I designed myself, quilted on my Singer 328K, and appliqued some fussy-cut cartoon cats (and a large applique embroidered bright orange daisy). I put a zipper in the bag, it was lined and had two large pockets! It was on cream-colored cotton twill, and in it I put a pair of jeans, a bright red sweater, a blue shirt, a tube of Gold Bond Healing hand cream, and a jar of Burt's Beeswax with Almond Milk hand cream! She was thrilled with the bag (which served as the wrapping for all the rest! LOL!
Although we're cousins by marriage, we're family and I love her like I love my sisters! Two years ago, I did an embroidered "Sooner" wagon (all satin-stitch embroidery) and framed it. She liked that one, too! And, in between times, I'm working on an embroidered quilt top for her! Kay is very good to me and since she's all alone (as far as family is concerned), I check up on her to make sure she's okay! Sorry, I got a long way from quilt fabric! Jeanette |
I enjoyed the chat. Thanks for sharing!
