I am going to do Elanor Burns Christian Cross in a LQS class. I would like to do it in a more non tradional line of fabric choices. I am open to suggestions. :-D I chose this pattern because of the cross motif that represents religion and as a medical symbol. I am a nursey. :-D

Maybe red/white/black fabrics?

I googled Eleanor Burns Christmas Cross to see what the pattern looked like and what were the traditional colors for that pattern, but nothing came up for it. So what are the traditional colors for it? Red and Green? How about Gold and white or blue and silver? If this is a wall hanging then how about something really festive in gold, silver and bronze or pewter? Maybe have glittery fabrics like the ones for evening wear? That's very holiday and non=traditional for quilting.

It was done in 1930's reproduction prints with several fat quarters. Here is a basic whttp://www.flickr.com/photos/7230833...2949847380/all hanging showing the pattern.

If you wanted a subtle effect what about trying whites & creams or creams & tans?

I would like something along more modern or funky metro :-P

Try looking at Kaffe Fassett fabrics, there are some very "mod" things there.
