fabric shopping

Yards. Most shops don't have 11 bolts of one fabric.

I would also guess yards.

bolts can come in varied yardages, so it would not be meaningful in most cases to list bolts.

I've never yet seen an online store that did. However, I have seen them that list prices by the 1/2 yard, and some even by the 1/4 yard.

Mostly yards (or metres, if in Canada!) .............. however ................

Some of the online shops are now selling in 1/4 yard units.

If you order "1", you get a FQ (unless you request a Skinny 1/4)
Order "2", you get 1/2 yard (unless you request two FQs)
Order "4" when you want a full yard.

I hate it when they do this!

Moral of the story ... buyer beware and ... read!!

Usually yards.

NO such thing as a dumb question... it's a good one too... as newbies will learn as well.

As QuiltE says, read carefully because more and more shops (on Etsy in particular) are selling in 1/2 yards or fat quarters. I've often been excited to see a good price on a fabric and then upon reading see that it's for only 1/2 yard.
